Laura -

I'll second your thoughts with a resounding "Hear! Hear!" to halting the production of nuclear weapons and to ceasing the problematic waste streams caused by their production! Weapons waste has been the source of tremedous headaches for waste management folk, not to mention the moral issues behind the bomb.

The one productive thing that might emerge from this WIPP controversy is that we must stop the production of these wastes, and hence of the nuclear weapons which generate them. With that goal I am in 100% agreement with you.

So here's the $64,000 question:
How can we limit WIPP to exisiting wastes, and stop the production of future wastes?
